Role of a School Counselor

School counselors are certified/licensed educators who improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program.  School counseling is a developmental process in which one individual (the counselor) provides another individual or group (the student) with guidance and encouragement, as well as challenge and inspiration in creatively managing and resolving practical, personal, and relationship issues in order to help students achieve goals.  School counselors focus on three main domains:  Academic, Career/College, and Social-Emotional.

Confidentiality and Crisis

Confidentiality and Reporting

School Counselors must follow state laws regarding the reporting of suspected child abuse. We support children throughout this very challenging process and work to ensure safety above all else.

If a child is a threat to his/herself or others we will immediately contact the legal guardian for pick up and psychological evaluation.  We want all children to remain safe both in and out of school.
