SSL Certificate Installation

Network traffic is filtered and monitored through a security appliance. In order to successfully access websites and services while on the campus network, you must download and install a security certificate (directions below):

Instructions for Chrome on Windows

  1. Download the security certificate
  2. In the browser customize menu, select Settings, click on Show advanced settings… Toward the bottom, click the Manage certificates button under the Privacy and Security section.
  3. Click the Import… button.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Browse and select the certificate file you’ve downloaded from step 1.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select the option Place all certificates in the following store.
  8. Click Browse.
  9. Select the folder Trusted Root Certification Authorities and click OK.
  10. Click Next and then Finish.
  11. Click Yes on the security warning.
  12. Close all dialogs and restart the browser.

 

Instructions for FireFox on Windows

  1. Download the security certificate.
  2. In the browser menu, go to Options and click on the Advanced button. Then select the Certificates tab.
  3. Click View Certificates to open the Certificate Manager.
  4. Click the Authorities tab
  5. Click the Import button and select the certificate file you’ve downloaded from step 2.
  6. Check the box Trust this CA to identify websites.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Restart the Browser

 

Instructions for IE/Edge on Windows

  1. Download the security certificate.
  2. After the download, Open the file in IE/Edge
  3. It will open the Certificate Information, select Install Certificate
  4. Choose Local Machine and then Click Next
  5. Click Yes when the computer asks to make changes to your device
  6. Select the option Place all certificates in the following store
  7. Click Browse
  8. Select the folder Trusted Root Certification Authorities and click OK
  9. Click Next and then Finish
  10. Click Yes on the security warning
  11. Close all dialogs and restart Browser

 

Instructions for Chrome on macOS

  1. Download the security certificate.
  2. Open Keychain Manager Application
  3. Click the Lock icon in upper left corner and type password when prompted
  4. On the left side click on System, and then under category click on Certificates
  5. On the bottom of the window click the + button, then choose the “download.cer” file from the downloads folder and click open
  6. Type password when prompted and click Modify Keychain
  7. Click on newly added “FG6H1ETB19904229” and double click it
  8. Click the arrow next to Trust and change the dropdown to “When using this certificate: Always Trust
  9. Close the window, and enter a password if it prompts

 

Instructions for Safari on macOS

  1. Download the security certificate
  2. you will get a warning, click Show Certificate
  3. Expand the Trust section.
  4. In the section “when using this certificate”, select Always Trust and click Continue
  5. Enter password if prompted

 

Instructions for Firefox on macOS

  1. Download the security certificate.
  2. A window will appear that asks if you want to trust “FG6H1ETB19904229″ for the following purposes…”
  3. Check the box for both options and then click OK

 

Instructions for Chrome on Chromebooks

  1. Login to your Chromebook with your @fayacademy.org account and the certificate will be installed for you automatically.
