Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) essay contest winners

Seven Fayetteville Academy 5th graders submitted their essays about traveling on the Mayflower to the New World to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) essay contest. They were Devin Tandon, Halle Adams, Hughes McCarthy, Jesse Baker, Anna Armstrong, Jay Okoroafar, and Kyla Labarre.  Their essays were submitted to the Col. Robert Rowan chapter of the DAR here in Fayetteville.
 
There were 20 essays submitted to the Rowan chapter from both public and private schools along with the Academy. Devin Tandon won first place and her essay will move on to the regional competition.  Halle Adams placed second with her essay.  All the other participants will receive participation certificates.
 
Devin will be recognized with other chapter winners on February 11 at an award reception being held at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Green Street.
