Class of 2006
Katie Bigelow earned her Associate of Arts from Oxford College of Emory University in 2008. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from Emory University in 2010 and a Master of Education in school psychology from the University of Georgia in 2016. She is currently employed as an Associate Specialist for Merck & Company.

The Cortéz Family
Isaac Cortés graduated from NC State University’s veterinary school in 2014. Since then, he has completed a series of general and specialty internships and completed a small animal surgery residency at Oregon State University in 2016. Courtney (Richardson) Cortés graduated from Campbell University in 2009 with a B.S. in biology and in 2016, a B.S. in nursing from UNC-Wilmington. She also earned a master’s degree in nursing leadership from the University of Colorado in 2019 with a Masters in Nursing Leadership. Courtney has worked as a registered nurse at a trauma center, Duke University’s ER, and the ER at Memorial Hermann in Houston, TX. In Oregon, she worked as a nurse educator, and most recently as the Director of Clinical Services and Education for a multi-specialty clinic. Courtney and Isaac were married in 2014, and in the past, five years have lived in NC, MI, TX, and OR. They are moving to Charlotte, NC where Isaac will work as a small animal, veterinary surgeon, specializing in minimally invasive, orthopedic surgery and joint replacement. Isaac and Courtney have a son, Isaac Cortes IV (Zac), who is two years old.

David Welsher and family
David Welsher graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in secondary education history. After graduation, he moved to Arkansas and taught at Bentonville High School. BHS has over 4,200 students and ranks as the top school in the state. During his time there, David was awarded Teacher of the Year for the district, and he completed his English as a Second Language Endorsement and master’s degree at the University of Arkansas with a degree in educational leadership. He also led the Lady Tigers JV team to three years of undefeated play and assisted the varsity team in three state championships for 7A. After five years of teaching, he became a Vice Principal of a middle school in Bentonville. He is married to Dr. Alissa Welsher who completed her Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology. They currently live and work in Atlanta where David is the new elementary principal of The Epstein School, a private, Jewish Day School that serves 430 students. In January of this year, David and Alissa welcomed their first son, Henry Harrison Welsher, and will soon celebrate David’s grandma’s 100th birthday.
