Mr. Bishop holds a bachelor’s degree from UNC-Pembroke and a master’s degree from Campbell University.  Mr. Bishop oversees all athletic teams and the entire athletic program grades 7-12.  He has served the Academy since 1982 and has been an educator since 1974.

Coach Ghaffar is our Lower School P.E. teacher and has spent many years working in various roles at Fayetteville Academy. Coach Ghaffar’s own education includes a bachelor’s degree in communications and mass media/journalism from UNC-Charlotte. Coach Ghaffar spent two years working with the Peace Corps in Ethiopia before a stint as a library manager at George Washington University. Since coming to F.A., his roles have included work as a cross country coach, basketball coach, track and field coach, and frequent substitute teacher.

Mr. McCarthy holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Campbell University.  Andrew oversees the boys’ and girls’ soccer programs and instructs physical education classes.  He has served the Academy since 2000.

Name: Wayne Walcott
Title: Strength and Conditioning Instructor

Mr. Walcott teaches the P.E. elective in strength and conditioning. He has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in criminal justice, both from Colorado Technical University. Mr. Walcott has had a seventeen-year military career with the first two of those years in the U.S. Navy and the rest in the U.S. Army. He is currently a Chief Warrant Officer 2, serving with U.S. Army FORSCOM at Ft. Bragg. As part of his duties, Mr. Walcott has served as a Master Fitness Trainer Level 1 and a Combatives Level 2 trainer in the Army. Mr. Walcott has also experienced success as a basketball coach both at the AAU level and in the military, having coached the Fort Bliss Knights and the Fort Jackson Ruff Ryders.
