4th and 5th Grade Required Summer Reading
Greetings, Parents of Rising 4th and 5th Graders,
In an effort to continue to bridge the gap between lower school and middle school,
students who will be in fourth and fifth grades during the 2020-2021 school year
will be required to do summer reading. The required reading will be book
selections from the upcoming Battle of the Books list.
Your child will be required to read at least 2 books from the list over the summer. When school resumes in August, he/she will be required to take a Fred test for each book read over the summer, as well as, submit a book summary for both books. The book
summaries will be submitted digitally, when returning to school. The Battle of the
Books list and book summary is attached to this email, posted in your child’s
current Google Classroom and available on the school’s webpage.
For those students who will be participating in the Battle of the Books, it also gives
them an opportunity to start reading before school begins.
Thank you for your support.
